The Effect of Ethanol on DiFi Cell Line Exosome Protein Content

Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer in the world and alcohol consumption is known to increase the risk for colorectal cancer. However, the chemical mechanism is still unknown. In this study, exosomes from the DiFi cell line were extracted, isolated, purified, and treated with ethanol and then the protein contents were analyzed to determine what the proteins the exosomes contained and the control and ethanol treated were compared. The levels of exosomes biomarkers suggested that exosomes were present and proteins from them were analyzed. There were some interesting upregulated and down regulated proteins found in the ethanol treated exosomes as compared to the control, however more replicates will need to be run to determine if these proteins are significant.
